ELKO – The Side Street Strutters will perform at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Elko Convention Center Auditorium.
As one of five concerts in the 2017-2018 season for the Elko Community Concerts Association, the Side Street Strutters are presenting a century celebration of the first recording of jazz. Their performance depicts how this music shaped a generation and the landscape of American popular music.
They previously performed in Elko during the 1999-2000 season of the Community Concerts Association.
“We choose performers that we feel are unique sounding and that would resonate well in the community,” said Treasurer Ann Nisbett.
The program will include several selections of New Orleans style jazz such as “What a Wonderful World,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “Royal Garden Blues,” “Muskrat Ramble,” “I Got Rhythm,” and multiple other recognizable selections that they will choose from a set list of songs.
The Side Street Strutters ensemble consists of seven instrumentalists and one vocalist. They were formed in 1983 while attending Arizona State University, and have since performed at Disneyland Resort in Annaheim, California for 22 years, across the United States, in seven European countries, Canada and Mexico according to their biography on the Elko Community Concerts Association website at http://cot.gbcnv.edu/~ecca.
