ELKO – It’s that time of year again. Stop into the Northeastern Nevada Museum or call to adopt your rubber duckies for this year’s Great Humboldt Duck Race, the museum’s largest annual fundraiser.
Your adopted duck could win you $1,500 if it crosses the finish line first.
A single duck is $5 and a quack pack of six ducks is $25. Larger quack pack levels include the bronze – 30 ducks for $100; the silver – 90 ducks for $250; and the gold – 200 ducks for $500.
The date for the race is July 27. Ducks are planned to be dumped into the Humboldt River from the 12th Street bridge at 9 a.m.
The finish line is near the Ninth Street pedestrian bridge. Onlookers can expect to see ducks cross the finish line 10-15 minutes after the ducks have been dumped into the river.
Check the museum’s Facebook page to keep up with current news regarding the duck race and other events.
All proceeds from the duck race directly benefit the museum’s free programs and projects.
The museum offered a special thank you to sponsors and affiliates Canyon Construction, Nevada Department of Transportation, Ruby Radio, Modern Concrete Inc., and local 4-H clubs.
