December 14, 1939—November 14, 2018
Barbara Lee Millard, a long-time resident of both Maple Valley and Kent, Washington, died peacefully in her home at 2:44am on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the age of 78. She was born in Elko, Nevada and was an only child to LeRoy and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Bylund. During her tender years, she was raised in Northern Nevada. Later, she attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where she met and married David Robert Millard, a civil engineering student. She later was sealed to Dave and her sons for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Raising her five boys brought her great joy. She loved being a mother.
Dave and Barbara later moved to Oregon and then to Washington. She loved the beauty of the Pacific Northwest—it is where they made their home and where they raised their children. Since Dave preceded her in death by nearly twelve years, she is survived by her five sons, Russell David, Robert LeRoy, Kenneth Todd, Jonathan Joseph, and Jeremy West Millard, who work together in a family business. While significant health challenges afflicted her later years, she still found joy in living. She was a loving grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was an avid football fan and loved watching college football with her boys. She likewise loved Fox News. She patiently endured all the trials that came upon her with a smile and a positive attitude. She was known for her kindness and generosity to all, and for her devotion to her family. As a matriarch, she was a pillar of faith and strength.
The funeral will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 19909 SE Wax Road, Maple Valley, WA 98038, with a viewing at 9:00am and the service beginning at 10:00am. She will be interred next to her eternal companion, David, at the Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park.
