Ben passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Ben lived his whole life in Elko, Nevada with the exception of his service in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Ben served from 1967 to 1970, was a Specialist 4 and the recipient of two Purple Hearts.

Ben and his wife Linda were married on May 6, 1986.

Ben is survived by his wife, Linda Jim Gonzales; daughters, Robyn Gonzales; Dwinda (Domingo) Mendoza and Selena Gonzales; brother, Davis Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales, Sr., and Tilford McQueen; sisters, Juanita Joe, Delphina (Ralph, Jr) Jim; stepson, Gelford Jim; grandchildren; Branson Gonzales; Kashena Gonzales; Francisco Mendoza and Domingo Mendoza Jr., Pacheco Anderson; and Evan Jim and many cousins, nieces and nephews

Ben was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Woods Gonzales; brother’s; William Jack Woods, Benson Gonzales, and Edmond (Duggie) Blackhat; aunt’s; Dorothy Wines, Carry Mendoza and Evelyn Tom and uncles Lawrence Woods and Willie Woods.

There will be a viewing on October 28, 2018 at Burns Funeral Home between 4:00 p.m.—6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, October 29, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Elko Colony Wellness Center (Gym). Traditional feed will be held at the Elko Colony Wellness Center following the Military burial services.
