July 12, 1963 – October 31, 2018
Dave Carlston was born on July 12, 1963, the fifth of six children, to Gary and Ruth Carlston and grew up in Granger, UT.
Early in life Dave discovered his love for music and taught himself to play the guitar, by ear. His ability was amazing, and you would think he had taken lifelong lessons. Dave could play absolutely anything. For many of us, just listening to him play was the greatest sound in the world.
His talents did not end there. Dave was an extremely talented artist; drawing, painting, it didn't matter. It seemed that everything he set his mind to he excelled. Most recently he had begun the medium of Paint Pouring and his pieces are on display at the Elko Art Club.
Dave had an inner strength that is indescribable. After battling complications with Diabetes for many years, he was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He approached this diagnosis as he did with everything else in life, a strong mind and a will to succeed. He fought long, hard and courageously for 20 months. No matter how he felt he would get dressed each day, with one of his signature band or skull shirts and his baseball cap. He refused to give in, and refused to back down. He fought through every up and down til the very last moment.
On October 31, 2018 his battle ended and he was able to rest peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.
He leaves behind the love of his life for nearly 20 years, Janine Williams; his mother, Ruth Carlston; his daughter, Sara Nicole Powers and his son Levi Carlston; 3 grandchildren whom he adored Brooklyn Powers, Axel Carlston and Cruz Powers; 2 sisters, Lonni Ford and Marni Smoren; many nieces and nephews and extended family who loved him dearly. Our hearts are broken.
His passing leaves a hole that will never be filled within us. We will forever miss him and hold close the memories we shared.
Until we meet again.....we will be loving you always.
