Beth, 79, of Nampa, Idaho, died February 08, 2018 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Meridian, Idaho. Born January 22, 1939 in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is predeceased by her parents, Lemuel Daniel and Dorothy (Pottles) McNutt of Brule Corner, Nova Scotia, Canada and her eldest brother, Donald McNutt of Los Angeles, California.
Beth was a devoted mother and wife living in Nampa, and managed Artemis Exploration Company. She was happiest in the outdoors working in mineral exploration, skiing at Bogus Basin or fishing on Lake Lowell. Beth loved her pets and had many over the years, both dogs & cats. An avid walker, she rarely missed a day until her illness became too much.
Beth is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, George Melvin (Mel) Essington; her son, William Troy Smith and wife, Robin (Klopf), of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandsons, Lance Daly and Robert Clay Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandson Jordan Dudley also of New Orleans, Louisiana; brothers Charles Vincent (Donna) McNutt of Vancouver, British Columbia, John Barney (Connie) McNutt of River John, Nova Scotia and Gordon McNutt (Liliia) of Turo, Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews and ‘Missy’ her best feline friend (BFF).
Private services will be held following cremation and a spreading of ashes will take place in the spring in the mountain area of Ruby Valley, Nevada according to her wishes. A lasting marker will be placed in Nova Scotia, Canada near her mother and father. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to The Humane Society.
The family would like to acknowledge the loving care provided in her last days by St. Luke’s Hospice and the 6th floor nursing and care staff of St. Luke’s Hospital, Meridian, Idaho.
