Julio Palacio passed away May 1, 2016 in Boise, Idaho. Julio was born March 23, 1925 in Charleston, Nevada to Marcelino and Gregoria (Sobrado Lopez) Palacio, one of eight children. He spent most of his life in Elko County before moving to Boise to be closer to family.
In 1966 he married Jacqueline Crooks in Winnemucca and from this union they had one daughter, Anita.
After a brief stint in the Army and working in the ranching business, he bought a trailer court on Fifth Street in 1961. He owned several properties in Elko County that he improved and sold. Julio was always one to be looking for the next business opportunity.
In 2001 he sold the trailer court and moved to Kittridge Canyon and in 2011 Jackie and Julio moved to Boise to be near their daughter and family. He was very fortunate to be cared for at home by his wife in his final years.
Julio is survived by his wife Jacqueline, daughter Anita and her husband Al Guerricabeitia along with grandchildren Benito Julio and Amaia Elena; brother, Tony (Jean) Palacio and sister-in-law Grace who reside in Gooding, Idaho; as well as several nieces and nephews in Nevada, Idaho and California. Preceding him in death were sisters, Mary Bilbao, Elena Ruiz, and Alice Corta along with brothers Alex, Albert and Frank Palacio.
The family would like to thank Denise Guy for her compassion and care for him over the last five years. They would also like to thank his niece Allison Brookins for her expertise and assistance.
