Mont E. Lewis, Jr., was born January 17, 1939 in Ephrium, Utah to Mont E. Lewis, Sr., and Ethel Lewis. Mont passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2017 in Elko, Nevada.
Mont graduated from Ogden High School in Utah. He then served in the US Navy and graduated from Utah State. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Idaho and Nevada, retiring as District Ranger for Ruby Mountains, Wells Nevada in 1994.
Mont married Bert in April 1971 and they lived in Dutch Creek in Idaho (Boise National Forest), Ely, Mountain City, Austin and Wells, Nevada. He was Rangeman of the year in 1982, President of Austin Lions Club, member of the Society for Rangement and a Volunteer Firefighter.
He is survived by his wife Bert of Wells, three boys, Mike Sayho, William Sayho of Elko, and Tony (LeeAnne) Thompson of Las Vegas. Two sisters, Margaret Cole, Ogden Utah, and Louise Higginson, Springville, Utah; brother, Richard Lewis, Orem, Utah and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bert is thankful for the support of her friends and especially their Forest Service family.
There will be a celebration of Mont’s life in the spring of 2018.
