ELKO — The Northeast Nevada Honor Choir will perform at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Elko Convention Center.
Admission is free.
The choir includes students from eight high schools in Elko, Lander, Humboldt, Lincoln and White Pine counties. The 170-voice choir is made of up of the top choral musicians from these schools.
The program will include American folk songs, Baroque music as well as contemporary a cappela. The first half of the program will feature choirs from each of the participating schools.

This year the choir welcomes Dr. Joseph Modica from the University of Redlands as guest conductor.
Modica is assistant professor of music at the University of Redlands and the director of pastoral music at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood, California. He has served on the faculties of the University of South Carolina and Chapman University, where he taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting and choral methods, and conducted both select and non-auditioned choirs.
He has held adjunct teaching positions at Biola University and Chapman University. Modica earned a bachelor of music degree in conducting from Chapman University, a master of music degree from California State University Long Beach, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music from the University of Southern California.
Modica taught high school choir for 10 years. He is formerly the director of choral activities at Mater Dei High School, and he taught for five years at Redlands East Valley High School. His choirs consistently received superior ratings at festivals and competitions and have been heard at two CMEA conferences.
