LAS VEGAS (AP) — Researchers say Nevada deaths involving guns have once again outpaced deaths involving motor vehicles, although both types of deaths have declined over a five-year period.

The Violence Policy Center counted 376 gun-related deaths in Nevada in 2011, including 272 suicides and 84 homicides. That compares with 281 motor vehicle-related deaths, including people who were riding in a car or pedestrians hit by a car.

The center’s statistics show the two categories were more comparable in 2007, when the state had 414 gun-related deaths and 410 vehicle-related deaths.
