AAA Student of the Week 2020-2021
AAA Academic - Ava Nielson

Senior Ava Nielson is ranked 13th with a 4.48 GPA in her class at Elko High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, section leader in the marching band, and has competed in Poetry Out Loud for four years, advancing to the state contest this year. Ava plans to attend the University of Montana to study creative writing.
AAA Athletic - Jose Ventura

Senior Jose Ventura has played varsity soccer for Elko High School since his freshman year while playing for the Elko Elite Club. He trained for five weeks with the Houston Dynamo Team, and helps coach and referee for the AYSO program. Jose plans to play college soccer and pursue a career in accounting or law, and dreams of being a professional athlete.
AAA Artistic - Beau Mansanarez

Beau Mansanarez is an exceptional singer with the Elko High School Choraliers and Show Choir. In choir since middle school, he is well-respected by his classmates, has an impressive 3.44 GPA, and has lettered in track and football, as well as choir. Beau plans to attend Grand Canyon University to study athletic training.
AAA Athletic - Betsy Fellows

Senior Betsy Fellows is a four-year starter for the Spring Creek High School Lady Spartans soccer team. Playing as goalkeeper, she earned second team all-league honors last season. Excelling in her academics with a 4.90 GPA, Betsy also helped her team earn the all-state academic championship.
AAA Artistic - Tristen Thomsen

Senior Tristen Thomsen is involved with the drama department at Spring Creek High School. He performed in the first digital show this year, and decided to challenge himself, taking the lead in the upcoming play. Tristen is also a varsity football athlete and he works hard and dedicates himself to his activities.
AAA Academic - Sophie Taylor

Senior Sophie Taylor has proven to be a dedicated student at Spring Creek High School with a 4.67 GPA. A meticulous student, she strives for excellence and continues to challenge herself academically, taking numerous college-level courses during her senior year. Sophie represents SCHS well as she enjoys learning and helping others. Her efforts are appreciated by all.
AAA Academic - Sarah Gorman

Senior Sarah Gorman has a 4.44 GPA and is ranked 16th in her class at Elko High School. A dedicated student and hard-worker, she makes time for extracurriculars such as volleyball, Key Club, HOSA and the National Honors Society, as well as working at the Boys and Girls Club. After graduation, Sarah plans to attend Montana Tech to become an environmental engineer.
AAA Athletic - Xandry De Arrieta

Senior Xandry De Arrieta is a member of the Elko High School cross country and track teams. She was named to first team all-league cross country and to the all-state cross country team, receiving awards for the girls’ basketball most inspirational player and academic athlete. Seeking a physical therapy career, Xandry plans to attend Boise State or Arizona State universities to major in kinesiology.
AAA Artistic - Josette McAnany

Senior Josette McAnany is a standout in Elko High School artistic classes, including Choraliers, photography, graphic design and advanced art, and is noted for coming up with unique and fun character designs. She has a 3.77 GPA and challenges herself with AP and honors courses. Josette plans to attend UNLV for a career in hospitality management and culinary arts.
AAA Academic - Jerrick Carter

Senior Jerrick Carter is a top academic student at West Wendover High School with a 4.29 GPA. Since his sophomore year, he has been taking dual credit courses at Great Basin College toward completing an Associate’s degree upon graduating high school. Additionally, Jerrick is in the Northeastern Nevada Honor Band, serves as Student Body Treasurer and played varsity football for two years.
AAA Athletic - Luna Gonzalez

Senior Luna Gonzalez is a student-athlete at West Wendover High School. Her efforts, dedication, commitment to learning and striving each day to be the best she can be has always been who she is as an athlete. As a student, Luna’s level of commitment and evidence of learning are beyond any teacher’s vision of a prize pupil.
AAA Artistic - Olivia Reamer

Junior Olivia Reamer has excelled as an artist and as a student in every respect at West Wendover High School. Her talent is unquestionable and gets better with everything she creates, and she exhibits excellent work ethic and decorum in class. Olivia will excel in whatever she chooses to do moving forward and her creativity will only make her successes greater.
AAA Academic - Kaela Negrych

For Spring Creek High School senior Kaela Negrych, academics have always been very important, reinforced by her 4.46 GPA. She is currently enrolled in courses at Great Basin College, plays on the Lady Spartans soccer team and enjoys community service projects, especially at the Lamoille Country Fair. Kaela plans to attend UNR after graduation to major in psychology.
AAA Athletic - Chloe Zuraff

Senior Chloe Zuraff plays varsity soccer at Spring Creek High School. Starting as a winger for the Lady Spartans soccer team, she never gave up and her positive attitude and work ethic led her to score the game-winning goal in the quarter final game of 2019. Chloe works hard academically and athletically and has been a crucial addition to the team.
AAA Artistic - Jaydon Mullins

Senior Jaydon Mullins is a four-year member of the Spring Creek High School speech and debate team. He has competed in both speech and debate events, and serving as a leader on the team his positive attitude is infectious. Jayden also participates in drama and is a dedicated student with an impressive 4.52 GPA.
AAA Athletic - Sequoia Roubideaux

Senior and athletic standout Sequoia Roubideaux participates in football, basketball and track at Owyhee High School. Throughout his high school career, he has received recognition for football All-Division 2nd Team Offense as the quarterback and basketball All-Division Honorable Mention in the post position. Sequoia plans to study sports medicine or physical therapy at a university in Idaho: UI Moscow, BSU or LCSC.
AAA Artistic - Kaitlyn Teller

Senior Kaitlyn Teller has been involved in various organizations at Owyhee High School which have allowed her to demonstrate her artistic abilities. She is an active member of the OHS athletic program, FFA, SOS, FCCLA, AISES, and UNITY-Native Connections. Kaitlyn plans to attend college in Nevada or Idaho to work in the field of Agricultural Science as a veterinary technician.
AAA Academic - Maxinne Mosqueda

Senior and early graduate Maxinne Mosqueda is an exceptional student at Owyhee High School. Leading her class with a 4.0 GPA, she is taking hybrid learning curricula, Great Basin College dual credit courses, and online Edgenuity classes, and is involved in FFA, FCCLA, SOS, FBLA, and Robotics. Maxinne plans to pursue a nursing degree at the University of Nevada, Reno or GBC.
AAA Academic - Rylee Molyneux

Senior Rylee Molyneux is an exceptional student at Elko High School, committed to academics and ranking 10th in the class with a 4.55 GPA. She has challenged herself with a rigorous class load, participating in cheerleading, volunteer work with FCCLA, 4-H, and a part-time job. Rylee plans to attend the University of Utah and study international business.
AAA Athletic - Mark Hauger

Senior Mark “The Hammer” Hauger is a three-sport athlete at Elko High School in football, wrestling and track, giving his heart and soul to athletics. He truly bleeds maroon and white, representing himself as a very hard-worker, loving intense competition, and being a leader and great teammate. Mark plans to continue his work ethic and athleticism, serving his country as a proud Marine.
AAA Artistic - Leslie Cottrell

Senior Leslie Cottrell has been a four-year member of the Elko High School Choraliers, band and Northeastern Nevada Honor Choir. She has a 4.27 GPA, maintains a part-time job and volunteers. Leslie plans to attend Great Basin College, then transfer to another college to earn a degree in a space-related field applying to SpaceX or NASA, minoring in biology or Japanese.
AAA Artistic - Ryan Van Patten

Senior Ryan Van Patten has been mainly involved in drama and speech and debate at Spring Creek High School. He is a natural performer and has the ability to capture a character very easily, and his strong presence helps him communicate his points in a discussion. Ryan excels academically and has a 4.03 GPA.
AAA Academic - Jayce Esplin

Senior Jayce Esplin is an exceptional student at Spring Creek High School who has committed himself to a challenging course workload and has a 4.65 GPA. Overall, he is a highly motivated student who never quits and perseveres through the toughest of challenges. Jayce will continue his pursuit of education at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in chemical engineering.
AAA Athletic - William Tournahu

Senior William Tournahu is a quick, athletic player in the Spartans Power Offense starting as right guard on the Spring Creek High School football team his junior year. He was an honorable mention all-league lineman last year, and has participated in track as a sprinter and a thrower. Will plans to attend the College of Southern Idaho to study fire science.
AAA Athletic - Carlos Camacho Mora

Senior Carlos Camacho Mora has played an important role in the success of the Jackpot High School basketball team the past few years. He plays with passion and energy unmatched by most, exemplifying what it means to be a leader on the court, keeping team morale positive and encouraging his teammates. Carlos plans to attend the College of Southern Idaho to study accounting.
AAA Artistic - Jaime Martinez Rodriguez

Senior Jaime Martinez Rodriguez, son of Jimmy and Sandra Martinez, is extremely motivated in leading the Yearbook Club and shows great commitment and talent in his artistic pursuits at Jackpot High School. Along with his artistic accomplishments, he is active in basketball, track, cross country, AOT and STUCO. Jamie plans to study art and design and business at the College of Southern Nevada.
AAA Academic - Wesley Sanchez

Junior Wesley Sanchez is always prepared and willing to contribute to the class at Jackpot High School. He is a strong student in all his classes, but chemistry is his favorite because he likes the give and take as he and his classmates work on problems. Wesley plans to attend College of Southern Idaho and is still exploring his career options.
AAA Athletic - Mariah Johnston

Senior Mariah Johnston is an outstanding student-athlete as a varsity volleyball player at Elko High School with a 4.25 GPA. Since her freshman year, she has played with the Ruby Mountain Volleyball Club, and competed in the PAL league starting in the fourth grade. Mariah plans to attend Edmonds Community College to play volleyball and study photojournalism.
AAA Artistic - Nathan Haro

Senior Nathan Haro is a very talented musician at Elko High School, serving as the percussion section leader for two years. He was accepted into the regional Honor Band, participated in marching band, Choraliers, pep band, concert band and winter drumline. Nathan is considering several options for college and plans to complete a dual major in aerospace engineering and marine biology.
AAA Academic - Zoe Blair

Senior Zoe Blair is a standout at Elko High School with an impressive 4.55 GPA and ranked eighth in the senior class. She has a plethora of extracurricular activities, including playing volleyball, captain of the varsity basketball, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, peer mentor and tutor. Zoe is leaning toward University of Nevada, Reno to major in health sciences.
AAA Academic - Kevin Thompson

Senior Kevin Thompson has a 4.30 GPA at Spring Creek High School. He is a thorough, conscientious and dedicated student, who is also polite, mindful of others and always available to assist. Kevin takes rigorous courses, preparing to continue his education in college.
AAA Athletic - Kylee Dimick

Senior Kylee Dimick is an outstanding student-athlete at Spring Creek High School, a multi-year varsity player in volleyball, basketball and track, holding the 3A state title for the high jump two straight years. She was also the 3A North MVP player for basketball and made All-State teams for academics, track and volleyball. Kylee also takes honors, AP and dual enrollment classes.
AAA Artistic - Camden Mortensen

Senior Camden Mortensen has been a member of the Spring Creek High School High Expectations Choir for four years. For four years, he has participated in both the NENV Regional Honor Choir and Nevada All-State Choir. Camden participates in drama and was cast in the SCHS musical the past two years.
AAA Academic - Rebecca Wahlstrom

Senior Rebecca Wahlstrom is a top academic student at West Wendover High School with a 4.23 GPA. She has challenged herself with honors and AP classes and dual credit courses at Great Basin College. She plays the clarinet and violin and is a student-athlete on the varsity girls’ golf team. Rebecca is a well-rounded and respected student by teachers, coaches and peers alike.
AAA Athletic - Eduardo Badillo

Sophomore Eduardo Badillo has been a true leader on the basketball team and has been making an impact on the soccer team since his freshman year at West Wendover High School. A hard-working student and athlete, he worked his way to the varsity basketball team by the end of the 2019-2020 season. Eduardo made a very good impression on the team and the coaches.
AAA Artistic - Ashley Valadez

West Wendover High School junior Ashley Valadez has always exhibited enthusiasm and dedication in art classes since middle school. She goes above and beyond with every assignment and excels artistically in everything that she creates. Additionally, Ashley is positive, helpful and engaging in both real and virtual classrooms, showing consideration, respect and concern towards her peers and art teacher.
AAA Athletic - Lincoln Ratliff

Senior Lincoln Ratliff is a top-notch student-athlete at Elko High School. He lettered in wrestling as a freshman and played baseball and football the past two years, as well as student body treasurer and maintain a good GPA. Lincoln’s passion is baseball and he is currently exploring options for college where he hopes to play at that level.
AAA Artistic - Sheridan Adams

Senior Sheridan Adams is musically talented, a four-year member of the Choraliers and Elko High School band. He is the bass section leader for the Choraliers and was selected for the Northeast Honor Choir, Nevada All-State Choir and the Nevada All-State Band. Sheridan carries an impressive 4.1 GPA, and he plans to go into the Air Force working in the armament systems field.
AAA Academic - Erik Bond

Senior Erik Bond is ranked seventh in his class at Elko High School with a 4.58 GPA that includes a rigorous AP/honors course. He has balanced his academics with extra-curricular activities, including National Honor Society, track, speech and debate and a member of the Robotics Team. After graduation, Erik plans to attend the University of Utah and major in civil engineering.
AAA Artistic - Harper Wines

Senior Harper Wines has participated in theater at Spring Creek High School for a year. Performing comes naturally to her and she was the lead in a show and is working on a digital production to be released at the end of the month. Harper is also involved in student council and sports, and she has an outstanding GPA.
AAA Academic - Raya McAnany

Senior Raya McAnany is an exceptional student at Spring Creek High School reinforced by her 4.5 GPA. She is an officer in HOSA, is active in the National Honor Society, participates on the Academic team and performs ballet en pointe. Raya plans to attend college and earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology on a pre-medicine track and then attend medical school.
AAA Athletic - Kendra Lusk

Senior Kendra Lusk has been a standout for the Spring Creek High school cross country and track for three seasons on championship teams. She won the 3A Northern Regional and placed first, third and fifth in the State meet, consistently one of the fastest runners in the state on any level. Kendra plans to attend Montana State University.
AAA Artistic - Angelina Solorzano-Zamora

Senior Angelina Solorzano-Zamora is an outstanding photographer/journalist for the Elko High School yearbook, writing many stories and taking hundreds of photographs to cover student life, sports, clubs and academics. She volunteers for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary, has a 4.04 GPA and participates in FCCLA, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Angelina plans to attend UNR and major in psychology.
AAA Academic - Leah Tsunemori

Senior Leah Tsunemori is one of Elko High School’s elite students with a 4.6 GPA, ranking sixth in her class. She balances her rigorous class load with extracurricular activities, including band, Choraliers, dance team, robotics, peer mentoring, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, drumline and math tutoring. Leah plans to attend the University of Oregon to major in chemical engineering.
AAA Athletic - Sean Klekas

Senior Sean Klekas is a remarkable student-athlete at Elko High School with a 4.01 GPA and numerous athletic awards and achievements. He played varsity basketball for four years, was on the varsity cross country, is active in Pep Club and is the president of the National Honor Society. Sean is exploring colleges to play basketball and plans to study business and elementary education.
AAA Artistic - Toby Pinnell

Senior Toby Pinnell has shown artistic skills over the course of his high school career at Carlin High School. Whether it is two- or three-dimensional work, Toby excels as a young artist.
AAA Academic - Jayden Ginter

Senior Jayden Ginter maintains good grades at Carlin High School. Keeping her grades up by taking an AP course, she also plays on the volleyball, basketball and softball teams, participating in FCCLA, band and Quiz Bowl while holding a part-time job. After high school, Jayden plans to attend Great Basin College.
AAA Athletic - Terrel Cole

Sophomore Terrel Cole has a great attitude and work ethic at Carlin High School. He shows up to every open gym and lifting session, striving to get better while maintaining good grades throughout the semester. Terrell always shows up, gives his best effort and has a great attitude.
AAA Artistic - William Martinez Jr.

Senior William Martinez Jr. excels in art classes at West Wendover High School where he displays natural talent and creativity in creating two- and three-dimensional works. He participates actively in class meetings, taking all of his academics very seriously. William is respectful and honorable in his character and demeanor, qualities that will take him far in his relationships and pursuits.
AAA Academic - Jennifer Collazo

Senior Jennifer Collazo is a top academic student at West Wendover High School with a 4.23 GPA. She has challenged herself by taking honors courses since ninth grade, AP calculus her senior year, and participating on the varsity girls’ basketball, volleyball and track teams. Jennifer is a well-rounded and respected student by her teachers and peers alike.
AAA Athletic - Omar Rodriguez

Senior Omar Rodriguez is a fantastic runner and teammate on the West Wendover High School cross country team. He is disciplined, has great work ethic, and is an all-around amazing student-athlete who continually strives to push himself and his teammates to be better. As student body president, Omar is a top academic student with plans to attend college after graduation.
AAA Artistic - Juliann Woods

Senior Juliann Woods has been showing her drawings and paintings in various art competitions throughout her career at Owyhee High School, including the California Trail Interpretive Center and Elko Mural Project. Julie participates in high school rodeos and depicts horses and the western lifestyle in her artwork. She plans to attend Treasure Valley Community College.
AAA Academic - Wentz Mosqueda

Senior and top student Wentz Mosqueda has a near perfect GPA at Owyhee High School. He is actively taking GBC dual enrollment courses. He is an active member of the OHS Robotics Team and competed at the State VEX Championship. Wentz is focused on excelling in college and plans to study mechanical engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.
AAA Athletic - Cameron Paradise

Senior Cameron Paradise participates in athletics year-round at Owyhee High School. Last year, she received 1st Team All-Division Recognition for volleyball and basketball. The senior also participated in the All-Star Basketball Showcase in Reno and anticipates having another successful athletic season. Cameron is weighing her college options and plans to pursue a nursing degree.
AAA Artistic - Lucy Potts

Senior Lucy Potts is an extremely creative young lady at Spring Creek High School, involved in numerous activities where performing is essential. She has taken drama, speech and debate, shining in both areas. Lucy also likes to challenge herself in performing, placing in the top three acts of the Spring Creek talent show last year.
AAA Academic - Maura Sweeney

Senior Maura Sweeney is an extremely talented and dedicated student with a 4.5 GPA at Spring Creek High School. She is a kind individual who is always available to help others, and takes rigorous courses, including advanced placement and college-level classes to prepare herself for college. Maura is applying to universities and is planning to major in the medical field.
AAA Athletic - Mollie Spillman

Senior Mollie Spillman participates on the varsity soccer and cheer teams at Spring Creek High School. A hard worker athletically and academically, she has been the starting defender on the soccer team for two years, becoming a leader for her peers. Mollie wants what is best for her team and will do what is asked to make sure her team is successful.
AAA Academic - Grace Calton

Senior Grace Calton is an outstanding student at Wells High School with a 4.3 GPA, nominated for her pursuit of education. She will graduate with 30 high school credits, including 10 dual-credit classes, or 30 college credits, from Great Basin College. Grace plans to study elementary education and has been accepted to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.
AAA Athletic - Zion McKay

Senior Zion McKay participates in track and cross country at Wells High School, maintaining a 3.68 GPA. She placed third in pole vault at state and was the lead runner at cross country state in fall 2019. Zion has competed at FFA nationals, earning 30.5 credits with her diploma. After graduation, Zion plans to study to be a veterinary technician.
AAA Artistic - Holly Pearson

Senior Holly Pearson is set to complete her third year of graphic design at Wells High School. A very determined student who allows nothing to inhibit her accomplishments, she can meet any goal she sets. Upon graduation, Holly will receive six CTE credits from Great Basin College, graduating with 29.5 credits. After high school, Holly plans to attend college.
AAA Artistic - Jetal Bhakta

Senior Jetal Bhakta is a very talented violinist in the Elko High School string orchestra for four years. A dedicated student, she is in the Honor Society, has played on the soccer team for three years, and has served as a peer mentor. After graduation, Jetal is considering attending UNR or UNLV to pursue a career in the medical or psychology field.
AAA Academic - Katrina De Guzman

Senior Katrina De Guzman is the fifth ranked Elko High School student with a 4.62 GPA. She participates in many extracurricular activities, including varsity girls golf, EHS Robotics, Choraliers, is treasurer of the Honor Society and vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, also winning Algebra II and Spanish student of the year awards. Katrina is leaning toward attending Loyola Chicago University or UNR.
AAA Athletic - Hannah McIntosh

Senior Hannah McIntosh is an outstanding student-athlete at Elko High School with a 4.14 GPA who is on the varsity volleyball and varsity track teams. In volleyball, she was named honorable mention in all-league, and in track she placed first at regionals for long jump. Additionally, Hannah is the EHS yearbook editor, and she is considering attending UNLV to study criminal psychology.
AAA Academic - Sinceer Torrero

Sophomore Sinceer Torrero is a leader in the classroom with her positive and inquisitive way of thinking that engages her fellow students in class at Jackpot High School. She enjoys computer science because it moves her out of her comfort zone and has fun in English class. Sinceer plans to attend college to become a labor and delivery nurse.
AAA Athletic - Jonnathan Rios

Junior Jonnathan Rios continued to make great improvements with his cross country season last year at Jackpot High School. He works hard to make improvements to earn a trip to the state championship on his team or as an individual runner. After high school, Jonnathan is planning to attend college and is currently exploring his career options.
AAA Artistic - Ruth Dominguez

Sophomore Ruth Dominguez is Jackpot High School’s featured art student, showing a commitment to making detailed and finely finished work despite receiving instruction online this quarter. She continually creates quality work and has been very diligent in observing project deadlines. This is Ruth’s second year taking pottery, but her creativity and craftsmanship promise great things ahead for this student artist.
AAA Academic - Harrison Walund

Senior Harrison Walund has made profound contributions as an athlete and student council member at Spring Creek High School. He is a diligent student who works hard, takes many honors classes where he thrives, and volunteers in the community. It is difficult to overstate the meaningful contributions Harrison has made to our school and the surrounding community.
AAA Athletic - Lydia Binger

Senior Lydia Binger is an all-around athlete at Spring Creek High School with a 4.20 GPA. She is on the varsity soccer, basketball and track, earning 2nd team all-league honors in soccer, all-state academic titles and medaling in multiple events in track, including the 300 hurdles, which is her best event. Lydia helped the Spartan girls’ soccer team to an exciting playoff run in 2019.
AAA Artistic - Heather Morrill

Senior Heather Morrill is a hard-working designer/artist at Spring Creek High School. She has developed her own creative strategies and critical thinking skills to meet assignment deadlines, is neat and organized, sensitive to the materials she uses. Heather has an earnest and humble personality, a positive attitude and a sincere appreciation for art, and is completely dedicated to her college goals.
AAA Athletic - Hailey Holm

Junior Hailey Holm is being recognized by the Lady Wolverines Softball team at West Wendover High School. She put herself into a leadership role on the team, stepping up to learn the pitching position and improving her herself. The team is looking forward to the upcoming season for her to do her best.
AAA Artistic - Yarizel Zamora

Freshman Yarizel Zamora is a very talented and creative artist at West Wendover High School. She is an outstanding student in the online environment, completing her work on time, never missing a meeting and actively participating in her class. Throughout her high school career and beyond, Yarizel is predicted to become very successful as a relevant and active member in any community that she chooses.
AAA Academic - Karla Rosales

Senior Karla Rosales is a top student at West Wendover High School with a 4.45 GPA. She is a diligent, hard-working student, challenging herself with honors and AP classes, along with dual enrollment courses at Great Basin College, serving on the student council and cheerleading. After graduation, she plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field.
AAA Athletic - Zethery Kinternecht

Senior Zethery Kinternecht is a fantastic student-athlete at Elko High School, putting his heart and soul into the wrestling and football teams for EHS. A superb competitor, he is a two-time state wrestling champion runner-up. Although Zethery is still exploring options where he will wrestle at the college-level, he is dedicated to pursuing a career in anesthesiology.
AAA Artistic - Hannah Weight

Since the fifth grade, Senior Hannah Weight has been in the school band with her leadership driving the Elko High School marching band to compete at the highest levels in the state. She was voted “Most School Spirited” and her enthusiasm and dedication to EHS, the band and Choraliers is second to none. After graduation, Hannah is planning to study secondary education.
AAA Academic - Loulou Neff

Senior Loulou Neff is tied for second-ranked senior at Elko High School, holding an impressive 4.7 GPA. She takes a rigorous course load as she participates in cross country, track and Choraliers, winning numerous awards throughout high school. Loulou plans to attend BYU to major in biology and pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
AAA Artistic - William Gardner

Senior William Gardner is a "get-the-job-done-and-finish-what-you-start" type of student at Spring Creek High School. He is motivated to finish his work quickly and efficiently, but most notably is a good brother, taking it upon himself to finish a blanket chest his brother started when COVID hit. William is sure to have it completed shortly.
AAA Academic - Emma Campbell

Senior Emma Campbell is a dedicated student at Spring Creek High School with a 4.47 GPA. She strives for excellent grades and is a conscientious student leader who is always willing to make time for her peers, as well as staying active in various athletics and clubs on campus. Emily represents SCHS well and her efforts are appreciated by all.
AAA Athletic - Zac Simms

Senior Zac Simms is a two-year letterman on the Spring Creek High School football team, where he was first team all-league linebacker and honorable mention guard last year. His interception and a touchdown secured Spartan victories in the last two games against Elko. Zac also competes in shotput and discus in track and field, and he hopes to play football in college and study mechanics.
AAA Artistic - Gwen Bennett

Elko High School senior Gwen Bennett is a rock star, participating in the Choraliers, Northeast Nevada Honor Choir, Northeast Nevada Solo and Ensemble Festival, Nevada Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Nevada All-State Choir. Additionally, she participates in numerous clubs and organizations at school. Gwen plans to attend the Colorado School of Mines, studying biochemistry and biomedical industry.
AAA Academic - Derek Elquist

Senior Derek Elquist is an exceptional student who is ranked third in the Elko High School senior class. Going above and beyond in his academics, he takes a rigorous course load, participating in the Robotics Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society and the golf team. Derek plans to attend UNR and pursue a major in the STEM field.
AAA Athletic - Emery Lesbo

Senior Emery Lesbo has played varsity softball at Elko High School since her freshman year. She continues to play on a travel team while umpiring little league games, doing whatever it takes to help her team succeed in both sports and in the community. Emery plans to attend Skagit Community College to play softball and study medical assisting.
AAA Artistic - Liliana Cobian

Senior Liliana Cobain is an excellent artist at Wells High School. In pencil media, she is noted for her strength on perspective and special arrangement. In performance art, she was selected for the Northeastern Honor Band on the flute. Well-rounded in many areas, Liliana has studied foreign language for three years, while also participating in cross country and track as she competed at FFA state.
AAA Academic - MacKenzie Wachtel

Senior MacKenzie Wachtel is an outstanding student at Wells High School. Before entering high school, she had a goal of obtaining an Associate’s degree from Great Basin College as she completed high school. To date, she has completed seven dual credit classes at GBC with a 3.9 GPA and currently holds a 4.45 GPA in high school.
AAA Athletic - McKenli Myers

Senior McKenli Myers is a well-rounded student athlete at Wells High School, participating for three years in cross country, track and basketball. She has maintained a 3.97 GPA while competing in FFA state, placing with the Junior Farm Business Management Team in 2019, in Novice Parliamentary Procedure, Creed Speaking and Best Informed Greenhand.
AAA Academic - Samuel Erickson

Senior Samuel Erickson is ranked No. 1 in the senior class at Elko High School. He has played in the Band of Indians for two years, and is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta math club, National Honor Society, Peer Mentoring and serves as co-captain of the robotics team. After graduation, Samuel plans to attend UNR to pursue degrees in biology and chemistry.
AAA Athletic - Gabrielle Bement

Senior Gabrielle Bement is a four-year member of the Girls Golf team at Elko High School. A key player on the 2019 state championship team, she shot a season low of 83 in the Elko tournament despite a shoulder injury, and was named to the all-regional and all-state first teams. Gabrielle has a 3.9 GPA and is planning to pursue a degree in sports medicine at Arizona State University and hopes to continue golf there.
AAA Artistic - Stacy Lujan-Araujo

Senior Stacy Lujan-Araujo was selected to draw and paint the Elko High School mascot on this year’s senior block. Self-taught through videos online, she is also ranked second academically in the senior class, plays violin in the Strings class, is a three-year member of the cheer squad and is acting president of the Eco Club. After graduation, Stacy plans to go to college to study mechanical engineering and eventually attend law school.
AAA Academic - Wyatt Armstrong

Senior Wyatt Armstrong is a dedicated student at Spring Creek High School who strives to be successful, which is reinforced in his 4.6 GPA. He takes rigorous courses and is always available to help others with a smile. Wyatt embraces education and is considering several options after high school, continuing his education in college.
AAA Athletic - Secody Charley

Since his freshman year, senior Secody Charley has run on the Spring Creek High School’s boys’ cross country team as they won two state championships and came in runner up. Last year, he was team leader during the state title, taking third place for the individual run. Secody sets an example for the rest of the team in his work ethic during practice and in his way of life, exemplifying what it truly means to be a Spartan.
AAA Artistic - Gracey Ledbetter

Senior Gracey Ledbetter has taken visual arts, second-dimension foundations, digital photography and drawing & painting classes at Spring Creek High School. She organized the Halloween Highway art club event last year and leads the FFA club. Gracey demonstrates commendable leadership qualities inside and outside the classroom, proving her creativity, sound critical thinking skills, conscientious work ethic and mature attitude necessary to be exceptional at any career she chooses to pursue.
AAA Athletic - Logan Christensen

Senior Logan Christensen played football, basketball, and baseball for Carlin High School all four years before the COVID shutdown. He is especially proud of being a key player in baseball tournaments and having been selected to attend Skills USA state contests his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Logan plans to join the US Army immediately after graduation and complete basic training in Ft. Benning, GA.
AAA Artistic - Toby Pinnell

Senior Toby Pinnell has attended school in Carlin since Kindergarten. He was artistically inspired by Bob Ross, who taught him the basics and beauty of drawing nature. Toby considers making it to senior year as his personal greatest achievement. Besides being artistic, Toby has played football all four years of high school and basketball as well. He plans to attend GBC and become a welder after high school.
AAA Academic - Akilah Leach

Senior Akilah Leach has attended school in Carlin since kindergarten. She has played volleyball, basketball, softball, and been on the cheer squad while maintaining straight A’s throughout school. She recently obtained a part-time job and is proud to be working and attending school her senior year. Akilah plans to attend GBC to complete her general education requirements before transferring to a larger university.
