ELKO — Lanes on Interstate 80 in the Carlin area will be reduced April 16-19 for annual cleaning of the Carlin Tunnels, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced.
Cleaning of the westbound tunnel is scheduled for April 16-17 between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The westbound tunnel will be closed and westbound traffic detoured through Carlin Canyon. The eastbound tunnel will remain open but restricted to one lane.
On April 18-19 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., cleaning of the eastbound tunnel will result in westbound traffic being detoured again through Carlin Canyon and eastbound traffic being routed to the westbound tunnel.
For traveler safety, flaggers, signs and barrier rail will help detour traffic around the work zone. Motorists are asked to obey traffic controls and drive at posted speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions.
