ELKO — The name of the man found dead in a hotel room has been released.

David Powell, 24, was found dead in a room at Stockmen’s Hotel & Casino on Friday. When his girlfriend returned to the room, Powell was in a standing position at the foot of the bed, bent forward at the waist and facing down on the bed. When she touched him, he fell to the floor, Elko police said.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Webb identified Powell. He said he would learn the cause of death after the autopsy on the body is completed.

Officers reportedly found evidence of illicit drug use in the room. Detectives continue to investigate the case.
