ELKO – A possible domestic dispute ended in the arrest of two people for possessing a stolen vehicle.
According to Police Lt. Ty Trouten, officers were called to 810 Commercial St. around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday over an ongoing fight between three roommates.
The owner of the house, who was not identified, was trying to evict Kaleen Ballard, 27, and Michael Hines, 35, from the home, said Trouten.
After officers arrived, a relative of the primary resident of the home said, “That car that they have over there, that’s stolen.”
The couple claimed they borrowed it from a friend.
The officers investigated the Jeep and discovered property owned by both Ballard and Hines in the vehicle. They ran plates and also learned the Jeep was reported as stolen in Elko in October, according to Trouten.
Ballard and Blake were arrested on one count each of possessing, receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle worth less than $3,500.
Bail was set at $20,000 for each suspect.
