WEST WENDOVER — A Utah woman was arrested Wednesday under a felony warrant for first-degree burglary, grand larceny and theft at the West Wendover Nugget Casino.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Elko Justice Court, Robin Annette Olsen, 48, of American Fork approached a couple at the casino’s registration desk and offered them a room for two nights at $120. Olsen told them that she had to travel back to Salt Lake City and gave them her telephone number and keys to the room once they had paid Olsen. Then, the couple proceeded to take their luggage to the room Olsen offered them, and upon returning from the Dollar Store found that they were locked out of the room.
They contacted casino security. According to a report by West Wendover police, the Lamms entered the room and found that all of their belongings were stolen. This included one black suitcase, one purse with a credit and Social Security card, medication, one blue makeup box, and about $500 to $750 in cash.
At that time, one of the victims also informed police that her stolen debit card had been used at a Shell gas station on the Utah side. Police then investigated the player’s registration for Robin Olsen to get a photograph of her and to record all of the information available on Olsen’s Utah driver’s license.
Police then determined from security camera footage that Olsen left the Nugget Casino room with the couple’s belongings.
A warrant was issued for Olsen’s arrest, and she was taken into custody Wednesday at Utah County Jail.
Her bail was listed at $33,500.
