ELKO — A burglary suspect was found early Wednesday morning hiding in a stack of tires, according to police.
Cody L. Madison, 32, of Elko was arrested in Firestone GCR Tire yard at 650 Union Pacific Way after police responded to an alarm at the business.
“When the officers got there, they could hear a noise inside the office area,” Lt. Rich Genseal said. “They walked through the first bay and could hear music playing.”
Genseal said the doors were locked. When the manager arrived, he told police no one was supposed to be in the building and music was not supposed to be on. They also noticed that the warehouse motion censor lights weren’t working.
“Then they saw the alarm box (had been) torn off the wall,” Genseal said.
Additional officers and a K-9 were called to help with the search.
“Initially they didn’t find anything in the yard or the shop area,” Genseal said. The officers decided to check the premises one last time to see if they missed anything.

One officer climbed on a stack of tires and soon noticed the alarm box. He then looked into the tires and saw the suspect hiding with his shirt pulled over his head.
“They immediately recognized him as Cody Madison and arrested him without incident,” Genseal said.
Madison was booked into the Elko County Jail on $5,000 bail.
