ELKO – Wintry driving conditions but no chain requirements were reported for all highways surrounding Elko Monday morning as snow continued to fall from a storm that began Sunday night.
Interstate 80 had adverse driving conditions as far west as Emigrant Pass and east to the Halleck interchange.
The National Weather Service expanded a winter weather advisory to include all of Elko County and a portion of southern Idaho, as well as all of Eureka and Lander counties. It is in effect until 4 p.m. Monday.
After highs in the mid-30s today, temperatures will warm into the 40s but another round of snowfall is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. The chance of measurable snow is 20-40 percent.
The extended forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 50 on Saturday, followed by a slight chance of snow showers Sunday.
