ELKO — Elko area residents are invited to participate in a utility consumer general session with the Nevada Public Utilities Commission slated for 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27 at Spring Creek High School.
Nevada Assemblyman John Ellison, R-Elko, and Sen. Pete Goicoechea, R-Eureka, encourage community members to be present to discuss utilities including power, water, telephone and natural gas with the regulators.
“We just really, really ask the people to come out,” Ellison said, explaining that he hears complaints about power and water service from his constituents, and this event gives residents the opportunity to address the appropriate authorities.
A representative of the Bureau of Consumer Protection also is expected to attend, making the topics of internet and home security system service germane to the meeting.
The session also might offer residents the chance to discuss natural gas expansion proposals and Ballot Question 3 regarding energy deregulation, Ellison said.
Spring Creek Association President Jessie Bahr reminded Elko County commissioners Sept. 19 that the meeting is open to area residents beyond Spring Creek, as it is general utilities session.
The PUCN hosted a utility consumer general session last September.
