CARSON CITY (AP) — A Nevada audit has found that the marijuana dispensary licenses process across the state is fair despite multiple lawsuits and corruption allegations.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday that executive branch auditor Saranjeet Bains told state officials that the process was adequate and conditional licenses were granted to more qualified applicants.

Some companies not granted licenses say there is corruption within the Department of Taxation, which awards licenses and regulates marijuana statewide.

Auditors say they have suggestions to help increase transparency and trust as the state aims to increase the number of cannabis companies.

Officials say auditors have suggested holding public forums for questions, automating the scoring process instead of entering scoring data manually and working with the Legislature to revise statutes reallocating licenses for increased state tax revenue.
