Division 3a North East

Coming off Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to Spring Creek, the Lowry softball team asserted itself Friday afternoon — closing the series with convincing victories of 11-1 and 14-0 in the doubleheader, riding the incredible day of freshman Savannah Stoker.

Lowry dominated the first game by a final score of 16-1, but Spring Creek won the war — taking the series with an 8-3 victory in the finale for the Spartans' lone series win of the season.

A five-run rally in the top of the seventh inning fell a run shy of forcing extras, the Lady Indians losing a road contest at perennial-power Fernley by a final score of 10-9.

After struggling for the most of the season — tallying one win in its first 12 games — the Spring Creek baseball team did not show any signs of down notes on the road Wednesday, at Lowry.

Likely needing a sweep to keep their hopes of a first-round bye intact, the Indians did not come close — mounting just five hits and two runs total across both contests.

Playing a doubleheader Wednesday, in Fallon — only one of the games counting toward the league standings — the Elko baseball team dropped the game matted that mattered and followed with a win in a non-league contest.
