Against Wooster, Spring Creek appeared out of sorts, out of system, consistently a step slow and fell to the Lady Colts by a final score of 1-0 on what was — essentially — an own goal.

In the first game, Spring Creek could not match the hitting of host Fallon — falling 11-1 — but the Lady Spartans dropped the second contest due to missed chances and errors in a 15-5 defeat.

Remarkably — even losing the 2020 season after just two meets — the Lady Spartans still have a considerable number of key contributors from the 2019 state-championship roster, which rolled to a 40-point victory over second-place Truckee by a tally of 137 to 97.

“We are very versatile this year. We have two or three girls who can play each position very strong,” she said. “I’m not sure where to put everyone yet. We’ll have to see where the chemistry is.”

Following an emotional home victory over then No. 1 Elko, on March 26 in a five-set dogfight, the Spring Creek volleyball team could not match the intensity in a five-set loss the next day on March 27, in Fallon.

However, following the hiccup, the Lady Spartans regathered and rolled through Dayton in straight sets on Wednesday, March 31.
