Louisiana Tech Missouri Football

Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III (3) is defended by Louisiana Tech defensive back Reginald Johnson Jr. Burden had a touchdown in his debut for the Tigers.

Top-ranked Alabama at Texas highlights this weekend's slate. No. 9 Baylor at No. 21 BYU is also a game to keep an eye on.

Missouri will be looking to continue momentum built in its opener when it pays a visit to Kansas State on Saturday in Manhattan.

The Tigers looked to be a work in progress offensively and solid on defense in a 52-24 win over Louisiana Tech.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, made quick work of South Dakota 34-0 in their first contest.

Missouri outlook

Tigers quarterback Brady Cook got off to a slow start after winning the job in the fall. He completed 18 of 27 passes for 201 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Missouri showed the ability to run the ball effectively behind Nathaniel Pearl (72 yards, TD) and Corey Shrader (70 yards, TD). Touted receiver Luther Burden III debuted with a touchdown catch.

The new-look defense picked off three passes in the first half, Joseph Charleston returning one for a score.

Kansas State outlook

Transfer quarterback Adrian Martinez was solid in his first start for the Wildcats. He completed 11 of 15 attempts for 53 yards against South Dakota.

K-State's running game piled up just under 300 yards on the day. Deuce Vaughn led the way with 126 yards and a touchdown.

Its defense limited the Coyotes to 270 total yards in the opener. That could prove a taller task against Missouri if the offense finds its form.
