Former Elko resident Joshua Randall finished the 2017 Ironman season ranked in first place for the United States in the 35-39 age group for males out of 7,097 athletes and first place in the world out of 27,860 athletes.
All-World Athlete status is based on the top three 2017 results. The Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. Results can be viewed at ironman.com under results, then rankings.
Randall competed in 3 races: Whistler, British Columbia, Canada; Gurye, South Korea; and Busselton, Western Australia.
He placed 1st in all three races in his respective age group, winning first overall in Gurye.
Randall currently resides in Perth, Australia, and works with the indigenous tribes, instructing in gardening. He is the son of Bjorn and Cheryl Randall of Elko.
