Nevada Outdoor School (NOS) is a 501c3 nonprofit primarily serving rural Nevada with a mission to inspire exploration of the natural world, responsible stewardship of our habitat and dedication to community. NOS works cooperatively with the Bureau of Land Management through a formal agreement to provide education resources, staffing and outreach assistance.
The California Trail Interpretive Center is a facility that opens up outdoor education opportunities for NOS programs and visitors alike. NOS works with and at the California Trail Interpretive Center to provide a variety of youth, training and community programs aimed at deepening people’s connection to, understanding of and respect for the natural world and historic and cultural sites.
Operating hours
The Trail Center is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Due to a federal hiring freeze, there will not be enough staff to operate on a seven-day schedule as planned for the spring and summer season.
The center is closed Thanksgiving Day, Dec. 24 through 26, and New Year’s Day.
RV and bus parking is available. There is currently no fee to visit the site.
