Elko has always taken care of its own. Ask anyone who has lived here through a hard winter, a mine layoff, or a medical scare an hour from the nearest specialist, and they'll tell you the same thing: in a rural community, healthcare isn't a policy debate. It's whether you can get seen, get treated, and get home in time to pick up your kids.
That question sits at the center of a project I've spent the past year working on: Replenish Medical Plaza, a planned two-story medical and wellness development at 2590 Ruby Vista Drive.
Why We're Building This
I started Elko Replenish Med Spa on a simple idea that shouldn't be radical: healthcare should be proactive, not reactive. Too often, rural communities are stuck choosing between waiting for a problem to become serious enough to justify the drive to Reno or Salt Lake, or skipping preventive care altogether. Neither should be the only option.
Our current practice already reflects that philosophy. We offer Botox and fillers, medical weight loss including Tirzepatide, hormone therapy, IV therapy, and women's wellness services, all delivered through an NP-led wellness practice built around whole-person care rather than one-off treatments. Replenish Medical Plaza is the next step: a real destination for care, not just another medical office building.
What the Plaza Will Include
The building will house our existing clinical practice — consultation and treatment rooms, an IV therapy suite, and dedicated space for the kind of integrated care that's hard to find in a town our size. Alongside that, we're planning a few additions meant to make daily life easier for the people who use them:
A pharmacy with a drive-through window means picking up a prescription doesn't require finding parking and walking in with a sick kid or a bad knee. A coffee shop with its own drive-through reflects our belief that a wellness-focused project should feel welcoming, not clinical. And ten professional wellness suites upstairs will give local therapists, wellness providers, and allied health professionals a home base to build their own practices and grow alongside patients they already know by name.
This is the first of two planned phases. Once the plaza is open and established, we hope to add a second building: a community gym that extends the same wellness-first approach into everyday fitness.
A Community Investment, Not Just a Building
I want Elko to understand that this project isn't about square footage or a nicer waiting room. It's about building something that grows this community's own healthcare capacity — recruiting and keeping providers who might otherwise leave for a bigger city, creating local jobs, and giving patients a reason to get care here instead of driving three hours for it.
Rural communities like ours are too often treated as an afterthought in healthcare planning. Replenish Medical Plaza is our attempt to change that here at home, to prove that a rural town can have a destination for care that's every bit as thoughtful and professional as anything you'd find in a bigger market, built by and for the people who live here.
We're currently working through financing and construction planning, with hopes of breaking ground once those pieces fall into place. I'll share more details as the project moves forward, but I wanted this community to hear about the vision directly, from us, first.
