TWIN FALLS, Idaho - CSI Volleyball sophomore and local product Emerson Heatwole played a large part in the Golden Eagles perfect 4-0 start to the season and has taken home the first SWAC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the new season.
Heatwole got off to a great start in her sophomore campaign as, right out of the gate, she notched a 20-dig performance in a three-game sweep of Indian Hills in the season opener. The Kimberly, Idaho, native followed that up the next morning with a 17-dig performance against Iowa Western. Against #3 Northeastern, Heatwole had nine digs and also accounted for four service aces in a 3-0 Golden Eagle victory.
Heatwole finished the opening weekend with a total of 49 digs, 12 assists and six service aces in 12 sets played as the Golden Eagles finished the weekend with two victories over nationally ranked opponents and only dropped one set in their four matches.
CSI now gears up for another four-game weekend at the SLCC Crystal "Inn"vitational, where they will open up on Friday morning at 9 a.m. when they take on New Mexico Junior College.
