The Twin Falls Police Department, Twin Falls County Coroner’s Office, and Twin Falls County Prosecutor’s Office are releasing the names of the individuals who tragically lost their lives during the incident that occurred on Saturday. We extend our deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, friends, coworkers, and community members grieving this unimaginable loss. Each person lost was a valued member of our community or guests of our community, and we recognize the profound pain this incident has caused across Twin Falls and beyond.
Victims identified
The victims have been identified as:
- Ashley Garibay, 23, of Stockton, California
- Dale Schultz, 66, of Salt Lake City, Utah
- Christopher Claunch, 59, of Hagerman, Idaho
The release of these names follows the completion of identification procedures and notification of next of kin by the Twin Falls County Coroner’s Office. We ask the public and members of the media to respect the privacy of the victims’ families as they mourn and begin the difficult process of healing.
“Our primary concern is providing support, resources, and timely information to the 10 immediate families directly affected by this tragic incident,” said Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks. “These families are experiencing an unimaginable loss or injured family member, and they deserve compassion, privacy, and every available measure of assistance our department and partner agencies can provide.”
Ongoing investigation
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Twin Falls Police Department continues to work closely with the Twin Falls County Prosecutor’s Office, the Twin Falls County Coroner’s Office, the FBI, and other local, state, and federal partners. Additional information will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the integrity of the investigation or the privacy of those impacted.
Family Assistance Center and available support
A Family Assistance Center has been established by the Twin Falls Police Department, with assistance from the FBI and in coordination with local, state, federal, and nongovernmental partners, to provide a centralized location where victims, survivors, family members, and loved ones can receive in-person information, support, and assistance.
The Family Assistance Center is located at Sawtooth Elementary School, 1771 Stadium Blvd. Services will be available Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM MDT, and Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
At the Family Assistance Center, victims and family members may request and collect personal items left at the scene of the incident. Available resources will include the American Red Cross, mental health support, Crime Victims’ Compensation, spiritual care, and other victim assistance services. The FBI has also established a victim information form for victims who wish to request personal items left at the scene or receive assistance from FBI victim specialists.
Anyone affected by this incident is encouraged to seek support through the Family Assistance Center or through trusted family, friends, faith leaders, counselors, and victim assistance professionals. No one impacted by this tragedy should feel they have to navigate this alone. Our agencies remain committed to supporting the victims, their families, and the Twin Falls community with compassion, transparency, and care as this investigation continues.
