CSI men remain atop Rocky Mountain Region standings
PRICE, Utah - The CSI men's rodeo team remains at the top of the Rocky Mountain Region standings after winning its third straight rodeo this past weekend at Utah State University - Eastern.
The Golden Eagle men tallied a total of 930 points in their strong showing, as they had four of the top five finishers in men's all-around. Ruger Smith and Trey Smith took home the top two spots with 300 and 220 points respectively, thanks in large part to their performances in steer wrestling where they tied for first place and each brought home 150 points.
Ruger Smith also placed fourth in tie down roping, while Trey Smith and partner Britt Wells took home fifth in team roping. Wells ultimately finished fifth in men's all-around. Aidan Zunino also had a strong showing, finishing just behind his two teammates, in third place in men's all-around. Zunino finished fourth in tie down roping, earning 70 points.
Other Golden Eagles with strong showings in their respective events were Isaiah Florendo and Makarty Larsen, who finished in second and third place in saddle bronc riding, bringing home a collective 160 points. Sean Mahoney also finished in second place in bareback riding, good for 150 points.
The Golden Eagle men now hold a strong 365-point lead in the standings heading into their final rodeo of the fall season next weekend at Utah Valley University, which is just behind CSI in second place.
