JEROME, Idaho – The CSI men's soccer team rode a huge offensive day to a 5-0 win over Truckee Meadows on Saturday afternoon, pushing their overall record to 4-2-2 on the year.
In a rematch with Truckee Meadows, the Golden Eagles once again found success in their offensive attack, notching five goals for the second time this year against the Lizards.
The first two CSI goals came off the foot of Rodrigo Julian Olmos in the fifth and 13th minute, setting the tone for the rest of the day for the Golden Eagles. In his first game action of his sophomore year, Victor Jaeger found the back of the net in the 34th minute for the Golden Eagles' third goal. They were able to manufacture one last goal before the halftime break as Wisdom Herrera scored a header from Yannick Theis to give the Golden Eagles a commanding lead heading into the halftime locker room.
The Golden Eagles remained on the attack in the second half but came up empty until the 85th minute, when Tarsio Almeida Sebastio scored on a cross from Adria Lledo Sampol for the fifth and final goal.
CSI ultimately outshot the Lizards 23-6, led by Olmos, who had four shots on goal in the win. Pedro Moco Caridi made his first career start in goal for the Golden Eagles, making two saves in the win.
CSI now prepares for a rematch with USU-Eastern, as they will host the Eagles on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. CSI fell to USU-E 1-0 back on September 17.
