ELKO — Local Girl Scouts who have used a house on VFW Drive as their local headquarters since 1940 are being evicted this weekend from the property by their Reno state office, which was deeded the property by the city of Elko for use by the local Scouts but now plans to rent it out to raise money.
The Elko Girl Scout House has been a part of Elko scouting since 1940. Now, local Girl Scouts may be evicted from the building.
The marker at the Elko Girl Scout House’s front door says it was built in 1940 by the Depression-era Work Projects Administration. It was leased to the Girl Scouts for $1 a year.
