JEROME, Idaho - The CSI men's soccer team used a trio of second half goals to pull away from Colorado Northwestern, defeating the Spartans 4-0 on Thursday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles had a very strong performance offensively, notching double-digit shots in each half as they ultimately outshot the Spartans 33-4. Nicolas Anatoh got the Golden Eagles on the scoreboard early, scoring a ball from Edward Hill in just the sixth minute. Despite getting off 14 first-half shots, the Golden Eagles could not convert and extend their lead before the half.
They were able to break through and get their multi-goal lead in the 58th minute as Rodrigo Julian Olmos found the back of the net as he headed in a ball from Gordon Peterson.
The Golden Eagles were able to break the game wide open in the final 10 minutes of the match, as a pair of goals from Ilan Portejoie and Enrique Nevarez doubled the Golden Eagle lead.
The Golden Eagle defense was equally strong all game long as the Spartans did not register a shot on goal in their four shot attempts. Lasse Brier was credited with the win in goal, his second consecutive clean sheet.
The Golden Eagles will be right back in action on Saturday, as they play host to 17th-ranked Snow College, with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
